Course Description

Introduction to web page design using HTML (Hypertext Markup Language).

Prerequisite: none

Textbook

None required. Online tutorials and class handouts will be used.

Supplies

Two 3.5 inch HD diskettes. Shared use of a digital camera on field trips.

  1. Tech checkup - individualized assessment of technical background and knowledge
  2. Computer and Internet basics
  3. Web page design fundamentals: audience, asthetics, maintainability, accessibility
  4. Creating web pages using HTML and Windows NotePad
  5. Basic HTML commands: <html>, <head>, <title>, <body>, <br>, <p>, <h1> .. <h6>, <hr>, <i>, <u>, <b>, <div>
  6. Intermediate HTML commands: <a>, <img>, <font>, hexadecimal colors, special symbol codes
  7. Advanced HTML commands: <table>, <tr>, <td>, attributes, layouts
  8. Develop professional quality web site
  9. Presentation and review of student web site
